Cheery sight on a gloomy day
Had a rather dull and squelchy walk today and struggled to find anything interesting to photograph. Then I suddenly found a small patch of these Winter aconites, Eranthis hyemalis, in a copse which normally has little wild flower interest. This is an introduction from southern Europe that has become naturalised in churchyards and woods near roads. Although the flowers were not quite open yet, the splash of yellow really cheered me up.
