No drainage here
Our street is on a slight slope, enough of a gradient for the rain water to flow to the right in this photo. About 100m down the street is a Y-junction where water pooled sufficiently for my car to become stranded. It turned out that the water had flooded the electronics and the engine was unwilling to do anything useful.
But the water would not have pooled like that, or not as seriously, if the drains had functioned. And I was out checking the galleys a few days ago, to find that the eastern side's were all completely blocked with soil. So this downpour could easily cause another flood at the Y-junction.
I don't think that the Council can afford to do anything about it, but I've left a message on the website nonetheless.
