Four spotted chaser
Today I went to Queen's Head for a walk along the canal and the reserves. I saw sedge warblers and reed warblers but the photos weren't good enough to blip. They're very good at hiding!
There were dragonflies including this four spotted chaser and common and blue-tailed damselflies. There must have been a great emergence of tortoishelle butterflies as there were clouds of them - I've never seen so many in one place. There were also tiny toads on the canal path and lots of flowers.
On the way back curlew and lapwing were calling which was great to hear. Thunder started rolling around as I was walking back so I hurried to the car before the storm started in earnest.
