Dragonsdawn
This larvae is no longer than a centimetre, and was gone a bit later leaving what appears to be his cast off outer. It's far too small to turn into anything right now, surely? The eyes appear to indicate dragonfly, but perhaps it is a demoiselle? Anyhow, a little later it was gone again, leaving what appeared to be a shed outer. I'm guessing it's one of next year's dragonflies.
Aside from the taxonomical debate, I like this shot for the background; thirds and shades and textures, all done above the voracious gaze of the koi. Hopefully, beneath the iris and other marginals it'll have a chance of making it to maturity. We had another visitor yesterday, but while he spent a lot of time hovering over the pond, he didn't stay.
This time next week we'll have been in lockdown for three months. I'm not expecting a cake, but I do hope Janet's hospital visits this week indicate future opportunity for a bit of photography that doesn't involve the gardens...
