Open water

Had the best start to the day! The local lake has opened again for swimming so I went for an early 7am swim and it felt great. My friends Steve and Jon also swam. The water was quite cold 17.3 degrees celcius but I was in my wetsuit and warmed up quickly. I managed 1km and could have swam further but my toes were starting to feel numb towards the end and I didn't want to push it.

The watersports centre and changing room are closed and it is strict pre-booked time slots to arrive/depart and social distancing all the way but it was still great. The lake is full of Canadian and Egyptian geese and there were tiny goslings snoozing on the beach.

John's mum came over today as she lives alone she is allowed to visit as she can join our bubble. While she was here I popped out for a social distance visit to my parents garden. It was lovely to see them and have a proper chat. It is very hard on them though that John's mum is allowed to see and cuddle the girls, but they are not. I feel really sad for them.
