Happy Saturday!
Such a nice day when the sun shines and everyone is happy. Well today has been one of those days. A lie in, followed by a little bit of cleaning then coffee in the garden in the sun.
At about 11 Jon and Daniel went off to Lincoln to collect his new car. It left Mollie, Henry and I to decide what jobs we wanted to do. The list is endless, but with the sun out, it had to be garden jobs, although I have put the allotment off until tomorrow. It was just too hot to be out in the full sun. I tried to tidy up the front garden next door. The rose and honeysuckle are quite wild around the door and as no one has been going in and out it is growing across the door. So I trimmed that back and weeded. It was still hot though. Meanwhile, Mollie took our new vacuum cleaner to hoover the spiders webs that all gather when a house is empty for a long while, and then she cut their grass. In fact, she hasn’t stopped, as she then made us a lovely lunch which was an orzo salad with lovely flavours and I picked some fresh lettuce. It had home grown spinach, and basil, plus not home grown corn, pepper and tomato. We sat in the french quarter of our garden, in the shade ( after I’d cleared up the presents left by many birds).
We had a visitor in our stream while I was weeding. He was very shy and kept ducking under the bridge. Eventually walking back up the stream and coming out in our neighbours garden, before taking flight. It got us very excited for a while. Mollie got this photo while he was in our bit of the stream. We also got chatting to a neighbour who passed several times pushing her baby in a peak, trying to get him off to sleep. So now have made a new acquaintance.
3 loads of washing done, and a little bit of sitting in the garden, plus a trip to QD to browse...an expensive browse, as I spent £40!!! Included in that was a bucket of fat balls and 2 clematis and a kiwi plant. That will be interesting. I haven’t been out to do any shopping for so long, I think I just got carried away!!
The boys arrived home, happy at about 4.30pm. Daniel is like the cat that got the cream - very happy with his new car. He said it drove really nicely back from Lincoln. Henry is just as pleased, as he now takes ownership of his new car, Daniel’s old one. But his insurance doesn’t start until his 18th birthday on 28th June...so 2 agonising weeks. But he was in there and making it his.
Meanwhile Cinderella....I mean Mollie was in the kitchen preparing dinner for everyone. Burritos. They were amazing. She had put the chicken and barbecue sauce in the slow cooker at lunchtime and we were able to sit in the garden together and eat.
I’ve just cut our lawn, nice and short, and it’s time to sit down!
So you see, a great day!
