I have now seen 4 mattresses lying about in nearby streets. Shops selling replacement mattresses are not yet open so these must be surplus to requirements.

I am struck by the awful thought that these may be mattresses on which Covid-19 patients have died at home.

While the real world has been discussing serious issues about human rights, Britain has been embroiled in a silly spat about sculpture. I am not a religious person. I do not believe in any kind of Almighty, but I do believe that wisdom has been handed to us on a plate even if the originators of that wisdom have not been credited and put on pedestals.
1 – Do not worship any gods except for God (optional)
2 – Do not create idols
As far as I am aware, several monotheistic faiths have managed to maintain their faith without resorting to images.
I think it's fine to remember those you love by holding mementos of them in the privacy of your home, or on your skin. I don't think it's OK to impose memorials in public places.
