Silent Raid, Sally Hogarth
Went for a slightly longer walk this afternoon to Burgess Park which is just off the Old Kent Road.
This image shows the representation of one of the houses that were destroyed by a Zeppelin bombing raid in WW1.
The bombs hit Calmington Road where Burgess Park now stands.
The artist created the small buildings to represent the type of houses that were destroyed. The number of houses equates to the number of people killed and the deeper the colour the closer you are to the epicentre of the bomb blasts.
