Catch of the Day

Happy Friday, All • We packed up food, camera and binoculars, stopped for ice coffees, and headed to our local boat landing for breakfast, and to bird and Stanley watch. Stanley? It’s our nickname for any sturgeon we witness leaping full-bodied out of the water, making a big splash. There are many theories as to why they do this, but no one really knows for sure. I’m happy to share we saw and heard three big splashes, and one Stanley. He was a big boy! • I also followed a double-crested cormorant hoping to catch him in flight. Instead I caught him catching a fish! The shutter speed was too fast causing a blurry image, but the capture is worth sharing, I think.
