Patience Rewarded

The resident heron was trolling for his dinner on my side of the pond for a change.  It doesn't look like he caught much of a meal but he'll be back for more I'm sure.  It's nice to have him a bit closer but not really much of a benefit because he flies off the minute I start creeping toward him.  But, it's a different view and I know from experience that he would win the waiting game if I thought I could just randomly catch him as he took off.  It's never a good idea to get in a battle of wills with a heron.
