Hobbs's Run

Sister One

The light was so nice I thought I'd go shoot yet another valley. This is a portion of the Jamison Valley as seen from just above the Three Sisters. In fact the nearby rock face to the left of shot is the first of the sisters. Just behind me and to the left is the commencement of the Giant Stairway, which leads one down to a bridge across to the sister in question and then on down to the valley floor.

I am trying to shoot more reliably well exposed skies for my landscapes, which is why I have been obsessing over my new body's HDR capabilities. I have decided that I am over complicating things. Many years ago I shot thousands of real estate images with the simple HDR formula of three frames each two stops apart ... and that's what I used today instead of the five and seven image series that I have been fooling with up until now. I'll be darned if simpler isn't better ... as usual.

Thanks to all of those who took the trouble to venture an opinion on whether they preferred yesterday's blip subject in colour or mono. As of 7:15 pm Thursday evening, the vote stood at 8 for mono and 5 for colour. Most interesting.
