Hidden castle
Another dusty day for MrT wardrobe building so we went for a drive towards Penmon and saw a sign for a footpath to Aberlleinog Castle which we'd never heard of so we went to investigate.
About half a mile along a woodland path & wooden walkway we came acoss the ruins of the castle.
The history behind it is it was built in the 11th century by the Normans as a motte & bailey, which is a mound with a wooden fort on top and was rebuilt in stone in the 17th century.
It fell into ruin & was overgrown with vegitation & hidden from view until it was taken over by Menter Mon, (an organization for rural developement on Anglesey )then renovated in 2008 with wooden steps up to it so it can be visited by the public.
It's amazing what you find when your not looking.
