Sex and Predation

Or maybe War and Peace?  Well, no matter - this incorporates two of my favorite arthropod themes into one image.  These are Predatory Stink Bugs, although not sure which exact species (trying to find out - will update if successful).  One of them (probably the female) is dining on a small larva while also ... well, you know.

Hubs and I were going to rent kayaks today but learned that the place we used to rent from isn't renting any longer.  So, revert to Plan B which was a walk along a shaded trail.  Which went well until a very pesky horse fly started dogging my hubs until he decided to jog (rapidly) back to the car.  For some reason, it left me totally alone.  From there we went to a lake where I did some damsel hunting while Hubs sat on a shady bench.  

In the Mouse Wars, we have trapped and freed TWO mice today.  That brings our total for the RV to 5.  We have now brought all the dishes and drawer contents into the house to be thoroughly washed and disinfected.  Won't put anything back until we've gone 3 days without a mouse.  Damned things.

New Jersey has lifted the Stay-at-Home order as we keep moving forward with reopening.  New Jersey is now also offering free Covid testing to any who participated in the recent protests and demonstrations.  Our Rate of Transmission is 0.64 and the Positivity Rate is about 4%, both of which are very good - hope to keep it that way as the state continues to reopen.
