Wren's London: St Augustine Watling St...

.....I hate cats but I know that many of you Blippers like them (for some strange reason), so I have a cat story for you;

The church cat, named Faith, became quite well known after the air raid that destroyed St Augustine's. Days before she was seen moving her kitten, Panda, to a basement area. Despite being brought back several times, Faith insisted on returning Panda to her refuge. On the morning after the air raid the rector searched through the ruins for the missing animals, and eventually found Faith, frightened but safe, surrounded by smouldering rubble and debris but still guarding the kitten in the spot she had selected three days earlier. The story of her premonition and rescue eventually reached the PDSA, and for her courage and devotion through the bombing and fire of the Blitz on the night in question, Faith was awarded a specially-made silver medal.

The entire church was destroyed on that faithful night a the tower that remained attached to a newly formed choir school (maybe they thought that there was another church nearby that they could use instead.....can you spot one??!!)

Another Saturday dressed in sadness, as yet again my football team of overpaid mercenaries fail to win and to be honest they look like they 'couldn't score in a brothel' at the moment, I am resigned myself to being miserable every weekend until the middle of May (something to look forward to).

Once again, thanks for the lovely comments and especially the hearts for my revisit of Greenwich yesterday, the one thing that will hopefully cheer me up is if I get my picture for tomorrows blip right.

Have a good saturday night!!!
