Glad to have found it
Santry Demesne is just up the road from me, closer than St Anne's Park which up until today has been my favourite place to go to get away from it all and take some exercise. What a terrific amenity this place (also known as Santry Park) is, especially on a day like today when the clouds lifted, temperatures rose, and the sun returned.
I spent ages wandering around in amazement, thrilled to have found such a spot so close to home. The place is immaculately maintained, with grass close-cropped in part and left wild in others. The site of the old house is reminiscent of St Anne's, with a raised mound still there and a flight of steps the only remaining evidence of the house that was. A grand avenue complete with a really fine free-standing Corinthian column ran up to the house, its position still obvious where it runs between mature trees.
There's much more to see and enjoy than I took in today. I'll return for further exploration shortly.
