Rewilding

Clandestine(ish) replanting with Sam of a seeded-by-the-birds 3ft native pine from our garden to the forest, which in time will help the visiting red squirrels gain a foothold again but is little compensation for the loss of the scots pine forest 18 months ago. We're also giving some long term tlc to some self seeded oaks and other saplings to rewild into the forest in a couple of years and we'll be taking care of some beech saplings to replace the mature ones on the forest border that succumbed to past storms. I hope the youngsters make it and grow strong, that they outlast us by decades, maybe much longer, and offer safe haven to insects, birds, beasts and flowers on the forest floor, maybe even help to calm down an anxious human or two. There's a lot of anxious humans on the planet right now.

After a long afternoon gardening, a surprise socially distanced garden visit in the evening from Tracey and Kayla...making me laugh out loud as always...couple of rare gems. Then later still a surprise win in the family quiz at night thanks to Ghandi's words...

First they ignore you
Then they laugh at you
Then they fight you
Then you win

Here's to toppling all those awful statues of the persecutors...
