Flax and Barley

On a day of dodging some very heavy showers. 

I thought this was hemp and rye. The experts out there (thank you) suggested Flax and Barley. I think you're definitely right. Crop identification is clearly not my thing.

I've since learnt that Flax is also known as Linseed and that is why Linen is so-called, being originally made from the fibres of this plant. Hemp is closely related, producing very similar fibres. They're both incredible plants. It seems a shame we don't use them more.
