A sheltered spot

Lottie and I were in the back field, trying to have a walk out of the chilly wind, when I spotted this juvenile blackbird.  It was quite happy to sit and watch us and be watched.  Intrigued as much by Lottie as she was by it!

We have had a friendly blackbird around for a few years now.  He has a white marking over one eye and he's easy to spot.  I always give him a bit of hen food in the morning, he's never far away.  I would like to think his descendants are learning that humans are okay too!  

All the trees in this corner are covered in mosses and lichens.  This one is a wonderful example!
