Breathing equity and equality, with the gut of a conformist, is not always easy. When I'm on my bicycle I really try very hard to adhere to rules, and keep myself and all other road users as safe as possible. Yet I get told off by fellow road and path users, almost on a daily basis. I guess without the right infrastructure it's impossible to do the right thing for all road users all the time.

In no other sphere in my life do I get reprimanded like this. Certainly not when I'm walking or running. It hurts a little. So I find myself falling into the tribalism of 'pedestrians', 'motorist', 'cyclists', and forget how many considerate, patient, kind people share my path on pedal days.

This sticker on a car shook me out of this, and I'm so grateful! We're all just people. People who ride bicycles. People who drive cars. People who use wheelchairs. People who walk.
