The tale of two aeonium schwarzkopfe...
We brought two of these lovely plants with us all the way from Cornwall to Germany - one for us and one for my mother-in-law. Now she is a very keen gardener and all her plants are always in perfect condition, whereas I never seem to have much luck with my houseplants - I don't know why, I just don't have green fingers! So I gave myself a challenge - to try to keep my little aeonium alive and not show myself up to my mother-in-law, whose own was bound to prosper! Would you believe it, mine is the only survivor! One day when we went to visit, I was walking around her terrace, (looking for this blip actually, when she came rushing out looking sheepish, and asked if I was looking for the aeonium. She then admitted that it was dead - left out in the cold too long. It was in her kitchen looking bad, so I (of all people) brought it home to try to save it - to no avail I'm afraid. Sad, but it made me take such good care of mine that it seems (after a shaky start) to be doing well! I'm quite proud actually - there was a time when it was touch and go after it was severely overwatered... But here it is now looking very well! Have a great weekend everyone :-)
