New computer
I can't remember whether I spoke about our State Government's digital recycling scheme. Every year they offer computers that have been superseded to various charities and Friends Groups. Some months ago we applied for one under the scheme and were approved a couple of weeks back.
Luckily a friend lives on the side of town where the depot is - a good job, because it would have taken us the best part of half a day to go and pick it up.
Yesterday, we brought the computer up to the house for us and we unpacked it with a great deal of anticipation. We were thrilled to bits. It's quite an old machine, but the software has been upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, and there's an on-line version of Microsoft Office for us to use. It came with all the necessary bits and pieces - a lovely monitor, fabulous keyboard and mouse. The computer is an HP, and all the other bits are Dell. Not a rubbish setup at all.
I wasted no time today getting it up and running on our home network. We'll keep it here for the time being, until the Coach House renovations are completed (which won't be any time soon).
All our records will be digitised and housed on it, as well as our ever expanding library of OGH photos.
It's a real step forward. (And I'm finally up-to-date with my Blips)
