La Junta...
...y la punta.. The joining and the point.of two rivers: the Red River and the Rio Grande. Winds gusting to 50 mphs = 44 knots. Hard to hold on to our hats, even our bodies were at risk on the rim of the gorge.. Disappointing because the hike to la junta is not possible today. Perhaps tomorrow? Long drive north of Taos.
See extra for description that says it better than I ever could.
On holiday between a birthday and an anniversary. Taos, New Mexico, one of our very favorite places on earth for river rafting, swimming in snow melt waters, exploring, breathing cooler air,.
One of my former blog posts gives you a real feel for Taos, NM, Rio Grande del Norte and the gorge = this wondrous place.

Have you ever found a place where if it were the place you took your last breath, you would say, "Thank You." Have you?
