If you can't beat them...

Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto)

Following yesterday's sighting of a Redpoll I spent a lot of time gazing out of the window at birds in the garden.  Sure enough the Redpoll appeared and was there almost every time I looked out of the window.  If I am lucky there will be a pair and the female and young will eventually appear.

Obviously much of my "exposing of electrons" was aimed at a birds.  Of the shots I took this Collared Dove pleased me most.  Unlike the Redpoll this species has had one of the most impressive population growths of any bird.  Between the mid 19th Century and the mid 1950s they expanded from Bulgaria to UK.
