Ash die back

Long walk in  high heat took us past the big loop at Drayton where the Meon crosses the meadow.  I’d seen this from the car on Friday but wanted another look.  So many Ash trees are dead or dying this summer I assume from their own shitty virus  but they are getting cut down quickly which I hope will save other trees. This little turn in the river looks so bare now though.  There is a huge Ash tree overlooking East Meon (Favourite Trees of East Hampshire calendar: April 2010 - best calendar EVAH)  and the only saving grace is that the remote specimen trees seem to be surviving.
