I've known it was possible to get lost in big woods - it is very hard to walk in a straight line, so it's easy to get turned around and not realise, and end up going in circles.
What I didn't realise was that it's also possible for this to happen in small woods. I was following a thin strip of woods between fields, and I didn't realise when the woods turned 90 degrees round a corner. Thus I missed the turn off I wanted to take and ended up going a mile West instead of a mile South!
But it was nice, and I saw a deer just before taking this photo. Fallen tree roots in the extras.
