Doing much of nothing

D and I got up early as we usually do, got a coffee and heading across the street to the marina hoping that the clouds would break so we could see the sunrise.  That didn't happen so we walked, found a place to get some toast, fruit and more coffee then headed back to get ready to leave.    We decided to go by Edisto Island on the way home even though we knew it might rain on us and it was a ways off the route home.   

There is only one road into Edisto Island but there are several other roads to get to that road.  So we got off the main road and traveled down this little badly in need of repairs road.  We both were amazed to see the old house sitting way back off the road with an avenue lined with live oak trees.  The gate was locked but we still got out and I took photos!!  It was so gorgeous!    Then a little further down the pavement ended, but the map showed we were still going in the right direction.   We went a little further and found where we were supposed to turn left but we went right..just to see where the road went.   Worth the little ride..it went all the way to the Edisto River.   Usually when we see the Edisto River it is in the swampy area and the water is black looking.  Today the view was blue and beautiful.  

We went on to Edisto Island, parked and walked along the beach for about an hour.  No rain!    It was very refreshing with the breeze coming off the water.  The blackbird was unexpected on the beach and there was not a seagull in sight.   We enjoyed watching the shrimp boat making its way slowly out beyond the shore.       Of course, we had to walk in the ocean water.   

Had some lunch and headed for home.   A nice time away just doing nothing but walking, eating good food and talking.   

I could not decide what photo to post as I wanted to share some of the things I saw today so I made the collage.    A good way to have a reminder of the day.
