What a fantastic day we’ve had!
We got an early start to get to Craister before the car park filled up. The Little Misses think it’s hilarious travelling in their Jim-jams and having breakfast in a car park.
We had a gorgeous walk along to Dunstanburgh Castle. It was a bit blowy but we were very wrapped up.
We sat in the ruined tower and had a picnic of mince pies, biscuits, hot chocolate and Daim Bars. Yummy!
We went to the top of the tower and nearly got blown away! Fabulous view though.
We had planned to carry on walking a bit past the castle but it was windy and cold and threatened rain and we’re lightweights so we headed back to Marshall for bacon sandwiches.
On the way back to the campsite we passed the sign for Low Newton by the Sea and I said to Mr K that we should go and look at the beach as we’ve never been down there. The Little Misses wouldn’t be prised out of Marshall so Mr K and I went for a lovely walk. There was a corrugated church that reminded me of the ones my mum and I saw so many of in Iceland, an amazing view back down to Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance, and the fabulous Ship Inn where Mr K and I had a sneaky half of one of their own ales from their micro brewery. Lovely!
I decided to walk along the coast path back to the campsite. Mr L drove back with the Little Misses. It was a couple of miles and a gorgeous walk.
Mr K came to meet me with Archie for the last bit and we went onto our beach and let him have a run. The sun was just setting and it all looked beautiful.
Last night tonight, we’re heading home tomorrow.
