Yellow Iris
It is iris time, and yet another big yellow bloom opened on this day. It sits next to the pretty little irises I showed you last week. It almost reminds me of a fan dancer, holding up its fans so we don't get to see that cute, fuzzy interior we all know is in there! Also cool to know: in Greek mythology, Iris was the personification of the rainbow, and a messenger of the gods.
A song for an iris: Bruce Cockburn, The Iris of the World.
