Two minutes before sunrise over the city 8.08 am

This morning uncharacteristically I was awake very early and realised that the sunrise was going to be spectacular. I had my Olympus E3 charged up and used the 12-60mm lens at its longest setting. I took about 24 frames over 10 minutes with birds and planes coming and going. I chose to upload this particular image taken just 2 minutes before the sun came over the horizon. This allowed adjustment of highlights and shadows in iPhoto to create some detail in the foreground, from my home on the north western periphery of the Glasgow conurbation. The high flats of Knightswood can be discerned on the horizon to the left, with the extremely faint outline of the city centre skyscrapers in the distance.
