Fenland excursion

A bike circuit today via the Fens to visit and picnic in friends and relatives gardens. Main pic is the old course of the river Nene. Extras of fenland poppies with barley, and the display plane outside the entrance to RAF Alconbury. It’s a replica F5E US military jet. In the late 1970s we briefly lived in a flat in an old property next to the base. The USAF was still active on it then, and one winter evening we got home from work to something resembling WW3 with full searchlights, sirens and planes taking off left right and centre. Quite scary. Looks very different on a sunny summer afternoon.
