Love letters tied with pink ribbon.
I finally finished reading the letters from the past yesterday. This batch was 1951 - 1956. In essence they were letters between Mum and Dad before they were married and whilst Mum was in hospital for 3 weeks awaiting and after the birth of my brother.
I didn’t want to recycle them and shredding them didn’t seem right. As I am the last member of the family I came to the conclusion that I would burn them. The container is a First World War German Cartridge case for a Big Bertha mortar dated October 16. Our Christmas tree was always put in this. Mr. C. Then dug a hole in the front garden. We put the ashes and some blood and bone and then planted a rose. A sentimental way to say goodbye to my parents.
