At last
I have been absolutely desparate for this day for weeks. Last night my car was fixed and today we left home at 615 to take ourselves to the beach. To the sea. It did feel a bit uncomfortable leaving our bubble for the first time, but that soon lifted! Watching the sun climb in the sky over the empty beach. Watching her complete joy at being free of all covid concerns as she splashed and ran and shrieked and laughed. Barbecued breakfast. Kite flying. Sharing it on video call to the grandparents. It was very odd in many ways. Her bubble began to wobble after a couple of hours and she wanted to go home. But it was a very very fabulous couple of hours as the delight in her face on the extra shows.
Hogwarts fun came to the beach too, with her drawing the Deathly Hallows in the sand. And poignantly recreating the burial of dobby in lego figures in the sand.
We were home by 9 for a chilled out day. There was Hogwarty things from house colours face paints. We each walked with friends, her off with a school friend and me separately with friends mum. We had virtual youth group at 4. She finished her quidditch lego set.
I put her to bed just before 8 but I could hear she wasn't settled. So I got her back up and we baked Sorting Hat pastries for supper while we watched the SpaceX. Quite a cool impulse extra for the evening!
