Broadway Melody of 2013.

1. For as long as I can remember I've been thinking about Broadway. Not like Cats or Phantom, but Busby Barclay, Ziegfeld's Follies and all the Broadway Melodies.

2. I poured over those films and played at being back stage. Our stairs transformed into a spiral staircase to dash to the stage, my bedroom the dressing room (five minutes miss maxwell) and the back window the curtain.

3. Sometimes I was out front, sometimes up a ladder. It didn't matter.

4. The air was full of 'say what's the big idea' and 'gee it's swell to see you' and of course 'let's do the show right here'.

5. And aye, mostly you have to be Mickey Rooney or Judy Garland to pull that off. And then, sometimes you are closer to all that than you think and it all comes flooding back and gee, it really is swell.
