This is what a squirrel looks like when he's approaching an area of potential danger in order to obtain food he knows is there. In this case, Cyril homing in on the vole food when he knows he shouldn't and he can smell something in the bushes. I just tried Googling squirrel stalking behaviour but just got a load of unwanted information about how to stalk them with a gun *rolls eyes*. Did you know that Hampshire dialect for squirrel is scuggee muggings? I've never heard this phrase before myself but, from now on, I'll definitely be using it!
