Allotment
A wee break of routine today, headed to the allotment straight after breakfast and worked away all morning before it heated up. Weeded, hoed, watered, moved some netting, transplanted some squash seedlings (no great hopes for them, they were harbouring wee white worms and some other orange beasts), planted more lettuce and the remains of a packet of onion seeds that I found in the hut, think I know how they’ll turn out! Took some pictures before heading home, just in case summer suddenly disappears.
Nipped down to Stockbridge late on to post a package, big queue at the post office. Gave me lots of time to observe the local rules on distancing. The following exceptions to the guidelines seem to apply ..
anyone under the age of eighteen;
anyone out walking with a child - buggy, scooter or just toddling along;
everyone walking three or four abreast;
anyone pushing a bike on the pavement;
any pillock cycling a bike on the pavement;
any similar pillock walking their dog;
anyone heading to or from the park with their mates;
anyone yacking on their phone.
I’ve probably missed a few and I was only queuing for about twenty minutes so that’s really just a snapshot. I did put my mask on pretty sharpish and didn’t mind in the least being the only masked customer. Honestly, if the government’s relying on most folk having common sense and following their advice then they’re stuffed.
