Looking towards Emley Moor

We vary our walk on Sunday morning and were blessed with a clear sunny morning with a variety of highlights. The clear skies as we descended back towards home meant that the view across the fields to Castle Dam, Penistone and the Emily Moor transmitter masts was better than usual. The pattern of the fields in the foreground is enhanced by the different strips of colour of the grass.
Wild flowers were changing including these wild poppies on the verges of the lane and amongst the crops in the fields. We also came across another gatepost clearly marked with the letter 'T'. There also seems to be a face on the side created by the lichen.
A farmer who was spraying the crop in the field we were walking through also stopped to talk and gave us much interesting detail to the land we were walking through, including pointing out the site of the iron age and Roman forts that were on the site of the fields were were walking through. Also some lines of enquiry to follow up.
