Gladhouse reservoir and Musselburgh poppy field
We've had an amazing day.
Not long after breakfast we packed a picnic into the tandem panniers and headed out of town via the Roslin route (which we now know) under blue skies to the Gladhouse Reservoir. I have included an extra to show my view from the back seat along the route.
On our return journey home we passed a beautiful stretch of trees (see my second extra). If that wasn't enough excitement, as we descended into Musselburgh we spied this fabulous poppy field. Amongst the full set of photographs that I took amongst the flowers I also have a fun one of Mr hazelh posing for his Cadbury's flake ;-)
We had a couple of hours free when we returned to the house. While I did some gardening in our area (front yard) Mr hazelh prepared all the meat and salads for our second officially sanctioned social event following the easing of lockdown restrictions. Our guests were Paddy and Caitlin for a barbecue. They added a scrummy raspberry and strawberry cream sponge cake to the feast, and also brought some of Paddy's delicious home brew for Mr hazelh to sample. It is so nice to be able to spend time with friends and family again. I have missed this so much!
There will be some more socialising tomorrow...
Exercise today: 46 mile tandem ride to Gladhouse.
