Trottick Mill Ponds - and an interesting walk
A beautiful sunny day
This was the first day of the easing of the Scottish Lockdown - we could drive up to 5 miles to start our walk. We chose to walk round Trottick Moll Ponds, which is now a Nature Area. Historically, the Ponds were used to provide water for the Mills on the nearby Dichty, when the Dichty was low. Sluice gates were opened to let the water turn the Mill wheels.
After we walked round the Pond we explored a forest path, guessing it might come out ‘somewhere’. It proved to be a very long path but, navigating by the sun, I got us to the Emmock road, a road we know well, since in bygone days we used it to go to Church. The walk was just over 2.0 miles which means I have walked 53 miles this month - which for me is a bit of an achievement.
As we drove past ‘our’ Golf Course we saw that it was full of golfers, joyfully restarting the game in glorious sunshine.
