Rocket

If little old Blackheath is famous for anything it's "the rocket". I am no authority on the matter but as I understand it (for most of this occurred quite a while ago) a local engineer, supported by community subscription, created and constructed a wonderful piece of practical playground equipment called "the rocket", which stood in a local park, providing youngsters with endless hours of exercise and interest.

Enter some health and safety, fun police, busy body git who decided that the whole thing simply had to go. Far, far too much pleasure was being taken it seems and far too many smiles were in evidence. In any event this wonderful object went missing for a very long time while local organisations and intransigent mindless bureaucracy did battle for its return. Evidently the Rotary Club of Blackheath played a pivotal role.

Anyway, now fully restored, here it sits once again.
