Living in the city

A few years ago, while work was being done in the house, we moved out. We spent a couple of nights in a hotel (not recommended) and a week or so in Glasgow city-centre. We had a ball. Of course, it was a short-term thing, but with shops a moment away, cinema and restaurants, it gave some food for thought. Maybe though it was like spending a fortnight abroad on holiday and wishing you could live there - practicality and reality kick in though and it's a 'no'.

This pic is George Square in the heart of Glasgow city-centre, a mere book's throw from my place of work. There's been a bit of a brouhaha over what should happen to it, with the plug being pulled on a re-design contest. The building is a converted post-office and it took a while, but it's overall now a decent addition to the square and the city-centre. There's a Jamie Oliver restaurant on ground-floor, and fancy apartments above. The idea of living there is appealing - out the front door and two minutes to work, quite apart from the quality of life. A 'maybe'.
