We might be losing the battle with the dwarf beans and the purple sprouting broccoli but the pak choi is doing very well.

Day 70. 
324 deaths up to 38,161 , still too many I think and 2095 new confirmed cases. This means we are still at level 4 on the danger level so its perhaps a bit surprising that we are relaxing so quickly. Me thinks it's the economy shouting Please Restart Me, the government needs tax revenues. Interestingly, Rishi Sunak announced the new furlough scheme from August requires the employer to pay the national insurance and pension contributions. 

Despite the "do not stay away for the night" rule, campers in the Lakes from as far away as Essex and London have been fined.

Our local water company United Utilities reports that reservoir levels are lower than this time last year. The hot weather and lockdown means we have all been watering our gardens. 

Cumbria Fire and Rescue has been called out to fires caused by people pulling branches off trees and using them to make BBQs
