King o' the Midden
Our cats have multiple cosy beds.
They take over the human beds when they like.
I gave up trying to keep them off the furniture years ago...
This morning, Finn was luxuriating in the sun on the top of the compost heap...
It made me think of a great book the kids had when they were younger; "King o the Midden - Manky Mingin Rhymes in Scots".
It's one of those books that will never go to the charity shop. It's a part of those great moments of parenting when a book becomes an obsession. No doubt the reason my children loved this book was because most of the poems are generally revolting and silly.
"...But worse than the lavvy
Or the waff aff a scaffy
Is the guff in my big brither's room.
The ming o his oxters
The bowf aff his boxers
The wheech o his socks're
Jist no tae be hidden
Aye, Jim's socks could hop
By theirsels tae the tap
O the heap and shoot oot:
'Smell us! We're king o the midden'"
