Common Enchantments

Mimosa

Back in May of 2015 I posted a photo of the mimosa tree that I had growing in a pot along with two others.   I did plant them in the yard and after doing some research on them I found they may take as much as 15 years to get flowers.  And they are invasive in that they will drop seeds and I would have trees all over the yard where I don't want them.     I am happy to say that this year we have an abundance of pretty pink "powder puff" blooms and have not had a problem with them growing in the yard.    I wish they would!!     This tree is in the front yard and the other one that survived is in the back yard.   It does not have any blooms yet that I can see but this tree has them along many of the branches...way up in the air.   An interesting fact about the leaves is at dusk they actually fold up and stay that way until sunrise.     I really love these pink flowers!!

Maybe all the rain we have had this spring has helped them to bloom.

An overcast and semi-rainy day as we got the edge of Tropical Storm Bertha which mostly dumped heavy rain at the coast.  The rain has definitely helped my flowers and my tomatoes.   I actually have two little orangey red cherry tomatoes now!!

Be well!!
