A Day At A Time.

Not Lost In Translation

After a dreadful night, baking in an overheated double ward, with my roomie snoring loud enough to wake the dead (and judging by the noise from down the corridor, he had!), I have lain on my back in some discomfort most of the day.

In Spain, patients are expected to have a family member stay in their room (sleeping in a chair) to administer to their every need. As I was alone, I had to do it all myself.

Getting to the bathroom is difficult when you take a coat stand everywhere with you, and using the provided bottle when roomie is holding court to his extended family, is just not on.

The language barrier has been very difficult, but fortunately I have one phrase off pat: "Mas pain-keelahs por favor!"

Still, it could have been worse. I got to see the lovely Jacqui this evening, which was a real cheer-up.

Have to say, everyone at school has been so supportive and I've had a couple of other visitors too.

Bless their hearts!
