3 months later . . .
. . . and we got our car back. It is fully repaired at last and Gordon went to fetch it this morning. The Jag has now gone, although it has not moved for 6 weeks anyway.
So we thought we would go for a drive (apparently we can do this now). The story we put together was that we had to see whether Gordon could remember how to drive the car should he need to take a longer drive later. We were going to visit Barnard Castle to see if we could find ’The Bench’. Then we realised that lots of people would be visiting, now they know the place exists - maybe they would think they could get another sighting.
Actually this is all untrue (at least I’ve admitted that). We were going in search of a piece of rock art near a footpath from a minor road running parallel with the A66 near Brough. We were unsuccessful for several reasons - one being a ‘bad-tempered bull’ in a field. But we did get a walk and some lovely views. However, I was most taken with a large expanse of Germander Speedwell - so many and so blue. Beautiful.
