Subtle Light

It's not very often that I make a image which I don't feel the need to edit in some way. But under the subdued lighting of a cloudy evening, the tones of these maple leaves were soft and subtle. I could raise the exposure and make the image more explicit, with increased dynamic range and punch, but it is the mystery and sombre mood that appeals to me.

Also unusual, the lightest tones are in the corner, which probably contravenes some rule or other, but given the light on the leaves and darkness in the rest of the frame, it makes sense to me.

At the other end of the spectrum to yesterday's rather extreme light, this photograph reminds me beautiful images can be made in all conditions.
