In Your Eyes

Just had my son on the phone, I have become a Grandad for the first time. At 3.05pm this afternoon a baby girl was born 5lbs 11oz more to follow.

For the first time in two days I left the house to visit the local chemist to buy Blephaclean wipes, I think central heating and staying in the house is not conducive to my eyelid drainage system.

My album of the day is "Uncovered" by Steve Harley. This album was released in February 2020, till then I didn't own any Cockney Rebel of Steve Harley. I saw him many times in the seventies but his music was just wallpaper to me. I heard a track from this album prior to release and thought I would take a chance. I'm glad I did, eleven reworked songs, two of his own and an eclectic selection of nine other tracks. The album is entirely acoustic and contains covers he wished he had written himself. There is not a bad track on the album, covers of the Stones, Dylan, Lennon/McCartney as well as traditional, but the standout track for me is Bowie's "Absolute Beginners".

On this day in 1975 I saw Led Zeppelin. A lads weekend in London to see my beloved Scotland play England at Wembley, we got stuffed 5-1. In the evening I saw Led Zeppelin at Earls Court and they blew me away, this was one of the few gigs in the seventies that I was a member of the audience instead of being stressed out working at the gig.

On this day in 1976 I saw the first of two nights of the Louder Than Concorde Tour with Elton John, the gig was to promote the Rock Of The Westies album.
