brush smiles

We took Dad to see the chemotherapy specialist chap this afternoon (who had no bedside manner whatsoever and very little time for pretending to show any interest in our questions or concerns, especially when it came to discussing how we could help build Dad's immune system up before it all kicks off and if certain foods could help or hinder). And it was fab news to find out he'll be having the treatment in our local hospital as opposed to 40 miles away in Bodelwyddan. He'll be starting his chemo two weeks today and the cycle will last for about 12 weeks meaning he won't have had his big op by the time I do my half marathon in May, which is a bit of an arse as I sometimes find it emotionally challenging when I'm running NOW so EVOLUTION KNOWS how I'll be able to stem the tide of tears by then (especially if a certain song comes on on my iPod when I'm running up a hill). If any of you Edinburgh-based blippers are there cheering people on and see a big Welsh lump hobbling along in a bright green Team Macmillan vest sobbing his heart out feel free to hand me some man-sized tissues.

Photo is a pretty boring one to look at I know. It's the egg-timer style thing we put in my daughter's stocking at Christmas. She saw me get a little upset tonight and when it came to brushing-up time she said she was going to make her teeth 'really really brighter than the sun' so she could share some of her smiles with me.
