The First Poppy

One of our friends gave Marian an envelope of seeds taken from the poppies in her garden. We like poppies and when the time was right, Marian took them outside to sow in the garden. Unfortunately, something went wrong with the envelope and a lot of them spilt onto the ground in the flowerbed.

Today the first of them burst forth from its bud to show its beautiful face to the world. You might notice several buds and an awful lot of green behind this one so I think there may be quite a display over the next period (if the wind doesn't) blow them all away!
