Flower Friday: Whorled
I like the symmetrical beauty of the spiraled white camellia.
In exploring "white camellia" on the internet, I was surprised to learn it was an 1860's white supremacy organization formed after the American Civil War. Based in Louisiana White Camellia, shared the same values as the KKK. The organization was led by Alcibiades DeBlanc, who later served as a member of the Louisiana Supreme Court from 1877 to 1880. After additional research, I learned the group has been resurrected and is operating today with similar goals as the original organization.
A peaceful image to close this blip, is a poem by Ann Roske:
rufous bird
hides in the camellia
avoiding raindrops
